Learn to cue with clarity and inclusivity, using language that fosters a deeply embodied, internal experience for your students. As you refine your teaching voice, you’ll develop the ability to guide students with confidence and compassion. You'll gain the skills to offer thoughtful adaptations, ensuring that every student receives the support they need. The curriculum covers the essentials of designing and delivering workshops and private lessons, equipping you with the tools to expand your offerings. Practice teaching and receiving feedback are integral to our 300-hour program. You'll have numerous opportunities to apply what you've learned, demonstrate your growth, and refine your skills, ensuring that you emerge as a confident and capable teacher.
Anatomy and Asana
Pulling knowledge from multiple lineages and disciplines the 300hr program explores anatomy and posture in a way that is comprehensive and transformative. Throughout the program, students embark on an in-depth exploration of the intricate workings of human anatomy. This includes a thorough study of the structure and function of joints, muscle tissue, fascia, and the nervous system. By examining these components, you will gain a profound understanding of how the body moves and adapts, allowing you to apply this knowledge directly to your teaching and personal practice. Central to the program are Principles of Alignment, which are applied to the exploration of asana. You will learn to assess and guide each individual’s unique alignment in a wide variety of asanas. This personalized approach fosters a deeper awareness of optimal positioning, helping students cultivate a keen eye for recognizing subtle nuances in alignment and movement.
Hands on Assists and Props
You will learn how to deliver safe and effective hands-on assists, and seamlessly integrate small props into your classes. Through our in-depth study of anatomy, you'll cultivate a sharp eye for recognizing optimal alignment, both in your own practice and in your students'. This expertise will empower you with the confidence to provide thoughtful and precise adjustments.
Philosophy and History
The 8 Limbs of Patanjali are a cornerstone of the 300hr program. We use this text for analysis and as our guide into group discussion, self reflective journaling and practical application. The program includes comprehensive study on the commentaries of renowned scholars such as T.K.V. Desikachar and Chip Hartranft, providing rich insights and diverse perspectives on the 8 Limbs. You will deepen your understanding of the philosophical underpinnings of yoga and how these timeless teachings can be applied in the context of modern life. Additionally, history lectures trace the origins of yoga in ancient texts and chart the evolution of its practices over millennia. One of the distinguishing features of the 300-hour program is the deep dive into other pivotal texts and practices. This includes an extensive exploration of the Bhagavad Gita and Budokon Yoga.
Meditation and Pranayama
With a solid grounding in the science of the nervous system, we aim to demystify the practices of meditation, making them accessible and deeply transformative. You will explore a range of meditation techniques, including mindfulness meditation, Metta meditation, and traditional Buddhist meditation. Each approach is examined not only from a spiritual and philosophical perspective but also through the lens of modern neuroscience, offering a holistic understanding of their benefits and applications. The program features a series of workshops led by distinguished guest teachers, each bringing their unique expertise and insights into the realms of meditation and pranayama. These sessions will guide participants further down the path of possibility, opening up new avenues for personal growth and teaching.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion
This program is built on the foundational principles of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, ensuring that every discussion and activity is rooted in these values. You will engage in ongoing conversations about best practices, exploring how to effectively implement DEI strategies in various settings. A significant focus of the program is on trauma-informed teaching, equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to teach in ways that are compassionate and empowering. By the end of the program, students will be prepared to create and nurture BRAVE spaces.
