About this Event
Taraki was founded in October 2017 by Shuranjeet Singh after his personal experiences with mental health challenges as a student. He felt that everyone should have access to help when they most needed it, so he started Taraki which envisions that Punjabi communities perceive and embrace mental health as an integral facet of life. Taraki wants to shape an environment which enables approaches to mental health centered on autonomy and community knowledge, working across intersections of identities and other drivers of health.
What is this event?
We know there are fantastic people and organisations wanting to make positive change in Punjabi mental health. However, for too long we have been working in siloes.
In 2023, Taraki helped form the Punjabi Mental Health Roundtable, a collective of organisations and individuals wanting to make positive change in Punjabi mental health.
And now, this collaborative group are coming together to host the first ever Punjabi Mental Health Summit to facilitate shared learning, discussion and action focused on mental health in Punjabi communities. This event is ideal for mental health professionals, reserachers, advocates, and decision-makers in the mental health space such as policy leads and commissioners.
There will be a range of intersectional panel discussions, interactive activities and networking opportunities throughout the day as well as breakfast and lunch which will be provided.
Who is this event for?
This event is ideal for mental health professionals, researchers, advocates, and decision-makers in the mental health space such as policy leads and commissioners. It is advised that attendees should have a special interest in Punjabi mental health and wellbeing if they are wanting to attend.
