Public ObservingThe Societies Public Observing meetings are organised in conjunction with Eastbourne Borough Council, and are open to the general public and members, and are advertised in EBC literature. Although Eastbourne Borough Council has decided to close the Beachy Head Story Centre we will still have our planned public observing sessions at Beachy Head. We will as usual set up telescopes in the Coach Park, but will not be able to undertake any presentations in the Story Centre.
We bring various society telescopes, and specialised cameras and have knowledgeable society members on hand to answer questions, and help you to discover the night sky.
The event is ability friendly, and is held in the early evening to make it family friendly.
Please wrap up warmly as it can get cold.
The event is free of charge.
This month we should be able to observe Venus, Saturn, the first quarter Moon, Neptune, Uranus, Jupiter, Mars and the Orion Nebula - Phew!
LOCATION: Beachy Head, Beachy Head Rd, Eastbourne BN20 7YA.
Plenty of car parking. Please park in the car park and not the coach park, as car lights interfere with observing. If you attend please use red light torches and not white light – you can make your Smartphone Screen Red via Settings Accessibility Display Colour Filters. Thank you
NOTE: If there is snow, ice or high winds the event will be cancelled for Health and Safety reasons. Observing is weather dependent - so rain and total cloud also curtail the event.
