Public Forests Today and Tomorrow: A Guided Hike
About this Event
NOTE: The meeting location for this event is the Switzerland Trailhead. Use this map pin to navigate or search for Switzerland Trailhead west of Gold Hill on Gold Hill Rd. Registrants will also receive driving directions via email as we get closer to the event.
Calling all forest enthusiasts
Mingle with the trees and fellow forest-lovers on a guided hike alongside experts in forests and fire. Join The Watershed Center as we convene scientists and land managers to explore past and future forest treatment projects. Learn cool facts about trees, ask questions about local forest management, and hear about steps being taken to create a watershed more resilient to wildfire.
We'll meet at the Switzerland Trailhead on Saturday, August 8th at 9:30am, then hike together into the forest before returning you to your vehicles by 12:30pm. Along the way, we’ll hear from folks at the USDA Forest Service about exciting work happening in the forests near Gold Hill and learn about how land managers are thinking about forest health in the face of climate change, increasing beetle activity, and more. Lunch is provided!
Explore forest stewardship in action, ask questions, and get involved. We can't wait to connect with you!
Accessibility: The tour will include walking up to 2 miles on uneven terrain, and standing/sitting outside.
