About this Event
With poet Sullivan Summer!
A medium is “a person who has fine-tuned their extra-sensory perception and can interface with the spirits in other dimensions.” Perhaps the same could be said of poets. Whether through death, or by physical, emotional, or spiritual distance, many of us find ourselves separated from people with whom we desire a connection, deprived of the opportunity to hear and to make ourselves heard. In this workshop, we’ll look at poets who have closed the gap between speaker/poet and subject, experimenting with forms that lend themselves to connection across metaphysical time and space.
About the Instructor: Sullivan Summer is a domestic, transracial adoptee raised in rural New England. Her writing focuses on themes of race, adoption, identity reclamation, US history, politics, and pop culture. Sullivan is past participant of the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, Tin House Workshop, and a graduate of the Brooklyn Poets Mentorship Program. Her work has been published in The Plentitudes and Redivider (among other publications). Sullivan lives in New York City.
