The Jewish National Fund (JNF) seeks to bring about “a stronger Israel” through funding the illegal military occupation of Palestine and the seizing of Palestinian lands. A recent study shows that JNF Australia has sent more than $125 million to Israel since 2009 while receiving $213 million in tax-deductible donations since 2013.
The JNF fundraiser this year is headlined by Natasha Hausdorff, director of pro-Israel advocacy group UK Lawyers for Israel. Hausdorff insists that Israel has sovereignty over the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, that the United Nations, the International Court of Justice, Amnesty, Human Rights Watch are all getting it wrong when they talk of ethnic cleansing, genocide, apartheid and colonialism. They are all just “buzzwords”, she told the Australian Jewish News; “Blood libels” in their updated form that, she asserts, constitute the basis of modern-day antisemitism.
Hausdorff appears to forget that we have witnessed this genocide every day on our screens and no amount of Oxford educated, fast-talking legalese can obscure what the whole world knows to be true.
