What does PROMM stand for?
Peculiar, Random, Odd, Mysteries and More!
Our shop's PROMM events are held during the summer, on the evening of the fourth Wednesday of the month.
More About the Talk: Allegany County (MD) hanged its first murderer in 1829. He was the sheriff of the neighboring Washington County, MD. After the mysterious death of his wife, George Swearingen went on the run through the frontier lands of a young country trying to evade capture. Hear the story of how a promising young sheriff became a wanted man in a historical true crime that shows love, power, and money are just as much motives for murder 200 years ago as they are today.
More About the Speaker: James Rada, Jr. writes historical fiction and non-fiction history. His works include the popular books Strike the Fuse, Canawlers, and Battlefield Angels: The Daughters of Charity Work as Civil War Nurses. He lives in Gettysburg, Pa., where he works as a freelance writer. James has received numerous awards from the Maryland-Delaware-DC Press Association, Associated Press, Maryland State Teachers Association, Society of Professional Journalists, and Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc. for his newspaper writing.
His book will be available for purchasing on the night of the event, and the author will be there to sign them!
Light snacks will be provided.
