Project ImPACT is an evidence-based intervention that teaches social communication to autistic children and those with other social communication needs between the ages of 18 months to 6 years, but may be used for older children with cognitive and language delays. It was developed with the specific goal of supporting the use of best practices in parent-mediated interventions. This 12-hour Advanced Course is open to providers who would like to use the Project ImPACT intervention with autistic children and those with other social communication needs. The workshop will use a combination of lecture, roleplay and small group discussion to teach participants how to use the Project ImPACT Second Edition curriculum to teach families how to promote their child’s social communication during daily routines and activities. The goal is for participants to become familiar with the intervention so that they can use it within their organization directly with the children that they serve. In addition, participants will be taught how to implement the program in a parent-training format within their organization. Professional approvals are available. Who Should Attend: Anyone involved in the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation efforts of children with autism and those with social communication needs will benefit from attending, including a wide variety of early intervention professionals. Speech therapists, BCBAs, special educators, social workers, psychologists and occupational therapists can coach families effectively in Project ImPACT. Prerequisite: The Beginner e-Course introduces the Project ImPACT program and the intervention techniques. The Beginner e-Course is offered as a six-hour, self-paced online tutorial that uses a mix of didactic elements, video examples and exercises to teach key concepts. The Beginner e-Course is included in your registration fee and is approved for 7 BACB CEUs and 0.60 ASHA CEUs. For more information and to register, visit https://training.ua.edu/ranworkshops/
