Come along to the opening event for the inaugural exhibition by the brand new, queer creative collective KETTLEPOT!
About this Event

Join us for the private view of The Gaze, Reconfigured on Friday 16 October, from 7pm–9pm, at The Outsiders Gallery, VFD[alston]. Expect an evening of bold art, good vibes, and a bar serving wines, spirits / mixers, beer and non-alcoholic beverages.

To help us manage venue capacity, we ask that all guests book their free ticket for the private view in advance.

This multimedia exhibition brings together works that challenge patriarchal and phallocentric traditions, and asks how artists, subjects, and viewers can reclaim agency from the objectifying influence of the dominant cisgender, heterosexual male gaze. Rather than reinforcing limiting ideas and inherited ways of seeing, it will explore the possibility of emancipatory gazes - ones that enable queer people to become the makers, rather than the bearers, of their own meaning.

The exhibition will be open to the public 17 - 19 October, from 10am - 6pm daily.

KETTLEPOT is a new art collective with a mission to provide a platform for LGBTQIA+ artists, with a particular focus on queer women, trans and non-binary individuals, who work in any creative discipline, to showcase artwork that transcends commonly held, limiting beliefs around themes of identity, the gaze and gender.
