Private Cellar Tasting: The Grapefather's Cellar, Placerville
About this Event
Nello Olivo is 87 and makes Italian-style wines in El Dorado County. Everyone calls him The Grapefather. Since 2010 those wines have taken 205 medals across 35 competitions, including a perfect hundred points at the California State Fair.
Enter through the cellar of Sequoia Mansion, which has stood on Bee Street in Placerville since 1853. Placerville will tell you the house is haunted. We can only promise the wine is good.
It is a fun, relaxed afternoon at one table, 90 minutes to 2 hours. Nello Olivo or one of our knowledgeable team members pours six of our best wines, and everyone gets their own plate of cheese and charcuterie. Ask what all that swirling and sniffing is about, and pick up a few tips for finding new favorites. Come with a partner, or reserve the entire table for your friends.
$30 a seat this fall, regularly $60. Select Saturdays and Sundays at 2:00 through November, and Sunday, October 11 at 1:00. A date runs when at least two seats are booked; if it is short three days before, we cancel it and refund every ticket. No-shows and cancellations less than four days ahead carry a $10 fee, club members included.
Guests must be 21 or over with photo ID. Please plan a designated driver.
