After 13 years of conjuring up the sonic equivalent of toxic pitch-black sludge and reminding everyone why the genre is called that, the deserved cult status of Primitive Man is beyond dispute. The three-piece has proved time and again - whether on several albums or on their many group efforts with equally collab-friendly bands like Fister or Full of Hell - that they do not compromise when it comes to exploring what is left to explore within abyssal Doom and Sludge music in all its forms. And just when you think that you got used to being dragged through viscous slowness, sharp bursts of frenzy will make sure you are never on firm footing.You will trade absolute immersion for some of your sanity, and you will gladly do so.
Kollaps represents a form of post-industrial music that rejects nostalgia in favor of excavation, unearthing the mechanical, the biological, and the violated. They have cultivated a reputation for impetuous live performances, as the Innsbruck diehards were able to experience last year when they toured with the mighty Pharmakon. Their live apparatus consisting of a set of various surgical and morgue-derived instruments - usually used to open, manipulate or restrain human bodies, but functioning as percussive tools in this case - is something to remember.
