Part of the LGBTQIA+ community? Love books? Come hang!Pride & Joy Book Club is a space for queer & trans adults to enjoy good books and community together. This new book club will read and discuss a wide range of fiction that reflects LGBTQIA+ experiences. We celebrate that though historically they were often erased, queer & trans stories have always existed, everywhere!
This month we will discuss the brutally prophetic dystopian novel Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, available for checkout in eBook form or in physical form at Laman Library in the Book Club section. Plot summaries and key passages will be available at every meeting for any folks who need a memory aid. Completing the full book before the meeting is strongly recommended but not required. Just know there WILL be spoilers!
Pride & Joy meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 6 to 7 PM. Meetings will be held at Flyway Brewing in Argenta. Find us tucked away at the table behind the half-wall to your right when you walk in. We'll have books, name tags, and a sign. FYI, though it's known for beer, Flyway has soda and lemonade as well as a great food selection! Sober folks welcome.
Registration is recommended (but not required) to ensure that we have enough books and chairs for everyone.
