About this Event

Albina's Black churches have long served as pillars of faith, culture, and community. Many of these historic institutions now face the opportunities and challenges that come with caring for aging buildings while preserving their rich legacy for future generations.

Join us for a day of learning, discussion, and community connection as we examine the significance of Black churches in Portland's Albina neighborhood, discuss the role of historic preservation, and explore education and career pathways in architecture, preservation, and related fields.

In collaboration with Allen Temple CME, Bethel AME, and Vancouver Avenue First Baptist churches, Hennebery Eddy Architects is hosting an educational event that brings together neighbors, industry experts, and church communities to document, celebrate and raise awareness around these sacred spaces. Church leaders will join industry professionals for a conversation moderated by Oregon Black Pioneers.
