You're invited! Join Tacoma On the Go and City of Tacoma for a guided walk and ribbon cutting to celebrate the newest section of the Prairie Line Trail! This new section, from S 21st St to S 25th St, connects the waterfront to the Water Flume Line Trail, and brings us one step closer to more connections like the Scott Pierson and Pipeline Trails, plus the future spuyaləpabš Trail to Puyallup. Not to mention safe crossing improvements on S 21st St and safer everyday access for the many employees, students, and visitors of downtown Tacoma!
Guided Walk: Meet at 11am at S 17th St & Pacific Ave, UW Tacoma corner. Learn about the complex and important history of the Trail, including the Northern Pacific Railroad, Chinese Expulsion, and how the Trail came to be. We'll walk through UWT campus together to the new section of the trail. Lead by Susan Johnson, Historic Preservation Coordinator at the City of Tacoma.
Ribbon Cutting: 12pm on the Trail near S 21st St & Hood St. Expect to hear from local leaders including Tacoma Council Member Sarah Rumbaugh, get info and resources from community groups, eat some snacks, and have fun!
Come to the walk, the ribbon cutting, or both! We hope to see you there!
