What is it?
Think of a fun Caribbean dance fitness party! Join us for an electrifying celebration of Caribbean Carnival and resilient movement! Groove to the latest Soca beats and discover the cultural essence of Soca. No equipment needed, just your energy and enthusiasm! Led by the energetic Fabienne Beard-Wright, a true hype master from The Bronx with a passion for cultural dance styles. Get ready to dance, connect, and soar with Power Soca!

What to expect:
This class highlights the celebration of Caribbean Carnival and resilience movement. Participants are led through a series of moves beginning with a physical warm up, leading into a carnival dance routine, and ending with a cypher similar to that of "being on the road to carnival." All are encouraged to bring a rag or flag representing one of the Caribbean nations (flags will also be provided). Get ready to learn about the rich culture of Soca, how Soca music and dance encompasses resilient movement, and how resilient movement can help us heal and connect socially and emotionally.
What is Soca?
Soca is life's carnival! It's the way in which Caribbean people make life more colorful and vibrant. We fete together, laugh together, show up for each other, support one another, and share happy moments together. That is the essence of Soca. It's Joy that we take with us everywhere: to school, work, shopping for groceries, to the shower, to bed, and every morning when we wake up. Soca is Culture, Freedom, Love and Unity.
What do I need?

• Proper shoes and fitness attire you are comfortable in
• Water bottle
• Participants are encouraged to bring a rag or flag representing one of the Caribbean nations (rag also provided in class).
  For safety, participants should be injury-free and in reasonably good health.
  Please arrive promptly to complete a waiver and secure your spot.
