Power, Politics and the Path Ahead with Karl Rove
About this Event
Veteran political strategist Karl Rove will reflect on the midterm elections, the balance of power in Congress and what the results signal for Texas and the nation on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 4 p.m. in the Student Center South Theater.
In conversation with Brandon Williams, director of the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Center on Ethics and Leadership, Rove is set to examine the factors that shaped the general election, including voter turnout, shifting coalitions and the issues that influenced decisions at the ballot box. The discussion will also explore broader questions about governance, public service, the strength of democratic institutions and the evolving identities of the nation's political parties.
With a career spanning political campaigns and the White House, he will offer insight into the Texas political landscape, the national significance of the state's high-profile U.S. Senate race and the challenges and opportunities in an increasingly complex political environment. The program will conclude with a question-and-answer session with the audience. Rove's campus visit is part of the "Democracy in America" lecture series hosted by the Hobby School of Public Affairs.
