About this Event
Come in from the cold and join other post-permanency families at Pots + Palettes for an afternoon of painting pottery! In this fun family event, children can choose from a variety of pottery pieces to paint. Once they are fired, Children’s Home Society of Virginia will mail each family their completed work of art. Space is limited, so be sure to register your family today!
Please note that this is not a drop-off event - parents and/or guardians are required to be present. About a week before the event, more details will be shared by email with registered families.
This event is hosted by Children's Home Society of Virginia (CHSVA) and the Northern Post Adoption Consortium (NPAC) for families residing in the NPAC service region. This region includes: Frederick/Winchester, Clark County, Loudoun County, Warren County, Shenandoah County, Falls Church/Arlington/Fairfax/Alexandria, Fairfax County, Fauquier County, Manassas/Manassas Park, Prince William County, Page County, Rappahannock County, Culpeper County, Stafford County, King George County, Spotsylvania County, Fredericksburg, Rockingham/Harrisonburg, Greene County, Orange County, and Louisa County.
Families are eligible for this event and NPAC services if they reside in the Northern region of Virginia and are one of the following:
- A family with a finalized adoption (or a signed Adoption Placement Agreement) of a youth between the ages of 0 to 18 years; families with young adults under 21 may be eligible
- KinGAP families
- State-funded kinship subsidy families
Thanks to our partnership with the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) this event is provided at no cost to families. For every family that attends, CHSVA will cover the studio fee and the cost of the piece of pottery for all household members, including all children and adults living in the home. Participants can select from a variety of pre-selected figurines — cats, dogs, sea creatures, butterflies, and more! This is a private event, so our group will have exclusive access to the studio. The setting will be quiet and limited to 30 participants, making it a great option for children with sensory sensitivities or social anxieties.
** This event is for household members only (family members who live with the adopted or kinship youth), and the adoptee or kinship youth must attend. To keep the focus on creativity (paint, not crumbs!), children will receive a snack bag to take home after the event. Any additional expenses (extra pottery pieces, souvenirs, etc.) are the family’s responsibility.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you check out on Eventbrite, you MUST stay on the site to answer the questions after the confirmation screen. Families who register without completing the questions, will receive a same day cancellation of their registration.
If you have questions about this event, please contact Heather Beam, post adoption support coach, at [email protected].
