Potomac Playmakers - "Come From Away"
The Potomac Playmakers proudly announce the first show of the historic 100th Anniversary Season, the hit Broadway musical “Come From Away!” Based on the true story of the time the isolated community of Gander, Newfoundland played host to the world, “Come From Away” tells the compelling story of how for five days in 2001 the small town played host to over 7,000 displaced airline passengers in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. What develops over that time is the fostering of unexpected friendships, compassion, and resilience amidst global fear.
“Come From Away,” with music, book, and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, is produced with licensing by Music Theatre, International. The show is directed by Cathy James with Susan Kleit, with music direction by Janet Palmer. The show stars in order of appearance Zoe Alexandros, Bob Bryant, Kelly Dowling, Suanne Eckel-Thompson, Jess Edwards, Keric Ellis, Alex Gude, Dan Henderson, Mallory Leembruggen, Michael McAndrew, Naimi McAndrews, Brian McClinton, Jeff Wine, and Matt Withers. Performances for “Come From Away” run September 11-13, 2026 and September 18-20, 2026 in commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Friday performances will begin at 8:00 p.m., with Saturday and Sunday matinee performances beginning at 3:00 p.m. All performances will be at The Potomac Playmakers Performing Arts Center, located at 17303 W. Washington Street, Hagerstown, Maryland 21740. Tickets for all performances are $20, and $15 for all audiences members aged 65 and older. Tickets may be purchased at the door, with advance reserved seats available online at www.potomacplaymakers.org. This show is rated PG-13 due to the intense historical subject matter and occasional adult language.
