Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse is one of America’s most historic beacons and a beloved icon of the New Hampshire Seacoast. Since 2001, it has been cared for by our organization, Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouses, a chapter of the American Lighthouse Foundation. After decades of providing tours for tens of thousands of visitors, we face a new challenge. Severe storms in the past three years have done great damage to the base of the lighthouse and to the adjacent structures.
We invite you to join Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouses and the Portsmouth Historical Society for a fun and informative evening at the Portsmouth Public Library. American Lighthouse Foundation Executive Director Bob Trapani and Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouses founder Jeremy D’Entremont will discuss some highlights of the lighthouse’s history, as well as the plans that are underway to address the recent damage and reopen the site to the public.
The library is at 175 Parrott Ave. in Portsmouth. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, in the Levinson Room on the first floor of the library. The event is free.
