About this Event
Step into the world of place-based storytelling in this mixed media workshop with artist and poet Angelica Candido. Guided by visual prompts and reflective writing, you’ll create an expressive piece inspired by a place that holds meaning for you—a room, a street, a garden, or even a corner of Brampton.
Using collage, drawing, and painting, you’ll layer colors, textures, and memories to create a “portrait” of your chosen place. You’re invited to bring an item or image that resonates with your story, though all materials will be provided.
This is a welcoming, accessible space for all levels (ages 16+), where art becomes a bridge between storytelling and shared experience. No prior art or writing experience is needed—just curiosity and openness. All materials are provided.
We’ll conclude with a friendly show-and-tell for those who wish to share their work, which may be featured in our community zine and final community showcase. This workshop is part of a series leading up to “What We Carry” (Oct 10)—a community open mic, zine, and art showcase featuring local performers.
