Explore the expressive and contemporary world of portrait and figure painting—where capturing a feeling matters more than perfect likeness.
Inspired by artists such as Alice Neel and Kehinde Wiley, this workshop invites you to see the human face and form in a fresh, modern way. Portraits today can be bold, simplified, emotional, and deeply personal.
Led by professional artist Kate Medvedok, this session offers a supportive and relaxed environment in a small group (up to 12 participants), allowing for individual guidance.
🎨 What You’ll Explore & Create
• Key ideas in contemporary portrait and figurative art
• How to simplify facial features and proportions
• Using colour and brushwork to express mood and personality
• Balancing structure with creative freedom
• Step-by-step guidance to create your own expressive portrait
You’ll work with acrylics on canvas, experimenting with both observation and imagination to create a unique and meaningful piece.
All materials are provided, including paints, brushes, and canvas.
No experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to explore.
