Introducing Pooches on the Patioš¾š¾š¾š¾
a structured social training experience designed to help dogs and owners build calmness, confidence, and real-world obedience together. This is more than just a walk. It is teaching dogs how to exist peacefully in our busy human world while learning to slow down, think, and decompress.
The event begins with a small gathering focused on foundation skills and mindset. Before we even start moving, we work on calm behavior, engagement, leash handling, and setting expectations. Dogs feed off our energy, so we start by slowing ourselves down first. This creates a healthier mental state before entering stimulating environments.
From there, the group heads into busy downtown areas where dogs learn how to navigate real-life distractions:
* Passing bikes
* Other dogs
* Traffic and loud noises
* Storefront activity
* Crowds and movement
* Outdoor dining and public spaces
The goal is not perfection. The goal is neutrality.
Dogs do not need to greet everything they see. They do not need to react to every movement or sound. We are teaching them that they can observe the world calmly and move through it confidently with leadership and guidance from their handler.
Throughout the walk we focus on:
* Loose leash walking
* Recall and engagement
* Proper social behavior
* Calm state of mind
* Structured decompression
* Reading body language
* Building confidence through exposure
Many dogs today live in a constant state of over-arousal. They are overstimulated physically and mentally, always reacting, always anticipating. This creates anxiety, frustration, and reactivity. Structured walks combined with calm downtime help teach the nervous system how to settle.
The final portion of the event is what makes this experience truly special ā patio decompression time.
After working through the environment, dogs and owners settle together on a patio where we reinforce calm obedience and practice simply existing without needing constant entertainment or reinforcement.
This is where dogs learn one of the most important life skills:
doing nothing!!!
We allow the environment to move around us while the dogs remain relaxed and connected:
* People walking past
* Food smells
* Other dogs nearby
* Noise and movement
* Conversations and activity
Instead of reacting, pulling, barking, whining, or demanding stimulation, the dogs learn patience, relaxation, and emotional control.
This helps create:
* Better public manners
* More confident dogs
* Reduced anxiety and reactivity
* Improved handler relationship
* Stronger obedience in real-world settings
* A healthier state of mind for both dog and owner
All dogs are welcome. Whether your dog is young, energetic, nervous, reactive, or simply needs more structure and exposure, this event is designed to meet dogs where they are and help owners better understand how to guide them through the world calmly and successfully.

So we are very fortunate to pair up with the ļæ¼Downtown Dog Spot in Waukesha for this.
A indoor dog spot where you can train and play with your dogs.
So with that being said, our Pack walk that was scheduled for June 4th Thursday night in Oconomowoc has now become Pooches on the Patio!

Cost $130.00 for 3 week session.
3 week continuous session
Dates: June 4th Thursday 6:30-8 pm
June 11th Thursday 6:30-8 pm
June 18th Thursday 6:30-8 pm
We will end our session on a patio to have snacks or a drink and practice our behaviors.
