The 2026 season of PCFB continues with a screening of one of the most haunting and iconic works of Polish cinema. On 16 April at 19:00, join us at CUKR for a screening of “Mother Joan of the Angels” followed by a 📸 special guest 📸 discussion with Dawid Junke.
This event invites both returning audiences and newcomers to experience a classic film that explores themes of faith, desire, and the boundaries between spirituality and human nature.
ABOUT FILM
Set in a remote convent in 17th-century Poland, “Mother Joan of the Angels” (dir. Jerzy Kawalerowicz, 103', religious horror / psychological drama / arthouse film) tells the story of a priest sent to investigate a case of demonic possession among nuns.
As he attempts to understand and confront the mysterious forces at play, he becomes increasingly entangled in a psychological and spiritual struggle of his own.
Minimalist in form yet deeply intense, the film offers a powerful meditation on repression, belief, and inner conflict.

Polish Cinema for Beginners is organised entirely in English, making it the first film initiative in Poland designed especially for non-Polish speakers. The project invites both locals and internationals to discover Polish cinema together, on the big screen.
