The Point of Jazz is a jazz collective led by graduates of the music department at University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. This week the house band consists of Kadin Yach (p) Jessie Crandall (b) and Colt Maichle (d). Every Thursday the group plays at Stone Arch Brewpub in Appleton Wisconsin from 7:30-9:30PM. They play a one hour set featuring that week’s guest artist, then open the floor for community members to join in on their respective instruments. This week‘s featured artist is Alex Lopez
Alex is a NYC Based saxophonist, composer, and educator. His debut album of all original music entitled “We Can Take This Boat” has been described as “a beautiful and heartful CD that combines lyricism and modern jazz in a very natural way” (Bob Mintzer, Grammy Award winning saxophonist and composer).
