Join the Kalamazoo Book Arts Center for an unforgettable evening of poetry, storytelling, and conversation featuring two of Michigan's most compelling literary voices, Fez Avery and Marcel Fable Price.
As part of the Poets in Print Series, this event celebrates the power of language to challenge, comfort, and connect. From intimate moments of grief and love to larger conversations about identity, community, and becoming, these two award-winning writers bring distinctly different voices that share a common belief: stories have the power to change us.
Whether you're a lifelong poetry lover, an aspiring writer, or simply curious about contemporary spoken word and literary arts, this promises to be a moving evening filled with laughter, vulnerability, and unforgettable performances.
Featuring:
Fez Avery is a poet and performer from Michigan and the author of CLAYBOY (Write Bloody Publishing, 2026). He holds an MFA in Poetry from Virginia Tech and some of a PhD from Western Michigan University. Avery serves as the 2026-2027 Visiting Instructor of Creative Writing at Interlochen Arts Academy. His work has appeared in The Journal, Gulf Coast, Passages North, swamp pink, and elsewhere.
Marcel Fable Price is an award-winning storyteller, former Poet Laureate, entrepreneur, and community strategist. A self-taught creative who has helped raise more than $6 million for community initiatives, his work explores grief, love, leadership, and possibility, reminding audiences that ordinary people are capable of extraordinary things.
