Welcome to our Poetry Spa at Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery - enjoy an inspiring day with poet Daniel Sluman alongside host poet, Jane Commane.

Start with a shared 'poetry reading spa' experience. Led by Jane Commane, we'll encounter poems by a variety of poets, discusing and sharing how these poems move and inspire us.
Daniel Sluman will lead a writing workshop during the day's programme entitled 'The Poetry of Witness', suitable for all, from absolute beginners to regular writers.

12.45 - 2.45 Writing workshop 'The Poetry of Witness' with Daniel Sluman.
How do we bring our past to the page and make it alive for the reader? In this workshop we’ll learn how to access the experiences that make us who we are, however loud or gentle they might be, and turn it into a fresh tactile piece of language. Through a series of linked exercises, we will keep adding layers to a memory or idea of your choice, building upon it, discovering the skills needed to turn it in the light and find the angles that make it glitter and shine in the hands of the reader.
2.45 - 3.00 Break with cuppa and cake (included in ticket price)
3.00 - 4.00 Jane hosts an in-conversation with Daniel about his writing, with readings from single window and a chance ask your own questions about the book.
Daniel Sluman is a 39-year-old poet and disability rights activist. He co-edited the first major UK Disability poetry anthology Stairs and Whispers: D/deaf and Disabled Poets Write Back, and he has published three poetry collections with Nine Arches Press. single window was released in September 2021, and was shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize. , his most recent collection, was longlisted for the Forward Prize Best Cllection in 2026.
