Celebrate National Poetry Month with us & five incredible regional poets & other poetry lovers in Green Bay!
Cathryn Cofell, Henry Kneiszel, K.H. Mari, Miriam Brabham, & Natalie Eilbert will be joining us, reading selections of their work, & sharing their collections. If we have time, we'll open up the mic to anyone visiting who would like to read their favorite poem or one of their own.
About the Poets
Cathryn Cofell is the author of two full-length collections including Stick Figure with Skirt, winner of the Main Street Rag Poetry Book Award, and six chapbooks. She’s been published 300+ times and earned over 50 awards, including the Lorine Niedecker Poetry Award, the Mill Prize and the Christopher Lathom Sholes award for mentoring other poets. She is the city of Appleton, Wisconsin’s first Poet Laureate, co-coordinator of Poetry Unlocked and the Immediate Past President of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets. www.cathryncofell.com
Henry Kneiszel is a poet, comedian, and visual artist who grew up in De Pere, Wisconsin and currently lives in Duluth, Minnesota. Their work has been featured in twenty literary journals and has been performed at events such as the Art Shanty Projects, the Barrel of Laughs Play Festival, and the Northstar Comedy Hour with Mary Mack. Their debut collection “It’s all too much I’m ready to become a Canada goose” is available in both written and audio formats.
Wisconsin native K. H. Mari was twelve years old when she first decided to put her thoughts to paper. Back then she turned up her nose to poetry, but she has since found liberation in free verse and exploring the depths of human emotion. She has recently released her debut poetry collection The Ghost at My Table. When she is not poring over the notes app on her phone, she can be found out on a run, hanging out with her cat, or buying a little treat.
Miriam Brabham was recently named Green Bay’s inaugural Poet Laureate, she is a poet, spoken word artist, and author of 1,000 Apologies to Me: a Collection of Poetry, Short Stories, and Reflections as well as contributing playwright for the piece In Plain Sight. Miriam is a co-host for the podcast The Biracial Effect and has been featured on Black Oxygen podcast from Madison 365. She was a featured writer for the Home is Here project from Wisconsin Life of Wisconsin Public Radio in collaboration with the Green Bay Press Gazette. Miriam was honored by UW-Lacrosse as a Phenomenal Woman of the Year, named a Future 15 Award winner and a Young Professional of the Year finalist by the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce and Current Young Professionals.
Natalie Eilbert is a poet and journalist from New York. She is the author of Overland (Copper Canyon 2023), Indictus (Noemi Press 2018) and Swan Feast (Bloof Books 2015). Her poems have recently appeared in The Paris Review, The Believer and Poetry Northwest. She lives and works in Wisconsin.
