Green Bay Jazz Fest Presents: Mingusfest | The Tarlton Theatre

The historic Tarlton Theatre in partnership with The Weidner, Green Bay Jazz Fest 2026, and Green Bay Jazz Orchestra present Mingusfest! 🎷

Mingusfest celebrates the life and music of legendary bassist/composer/bandleader Charles Mingus (1922-1979). Born at Luna Cafe in 2001, Mingusfest boasts the same core group for over 20 years: Nick Utrie (guitar), Cully Swansen (bass), Steve Johnson (reeds), James LeFevre (percussion), and special guest Adam Gaines (trumpet).

Charles Mingus Jr. was an American jazz upright bassist, composer, bandleader, pianist, and author. A major proponent of collective improvisation, he is considered to be one of the greatest jazz musicians and composers in history.

🎟️ Please reserve a table for your party. Tables for parties of 2-5 available. Seating arrangements are on a first-come, first-served basis based on the order your reservation is placed. Please purchase a table based on the number of guests in your party. Tables or individual tickets are not guaranteed proximity to other parties unless purchased together under the same party name or same order. Table reservations which are not claimed by showtime will be cancelled and offered to other guests as necessary. 🎟️

The Tarlton Theatre offers complimentary parking at the paved lot located immediately to the west of the theatre at 100 South Chestnut Avenue. Parking spaces marked "The Tarlton Theatre" are reserved for theatre guests only. Free parking is also available on South Broadway, South Chestnut Avenue, and Howard Street, but we caution our guests against parking their vehicles overnight.
