While crit racing is great there’s nothing like road racing! Over the years, road racing has disappeared from the racing calendar in the Philly area. Well now it’s back! Introducing the Pocopson Road Race. Located in beautiful West Chester PA, the Pocopson road race is a challenging 2.5-mile circuit on quiet country roads. The course is a good mix rolling terrain with some moderate ups and downs (it wouldn’t be a road race without that ;-). Parking Location: Start/finish and parking is at the Pocopson Park (477 Locust Grove Rd, West Chester PA 19382).
Event Date and Time: Sunday, May 17th, 8AM – 3:30PM
Registration: Preregistration on Bikereg.com. The registration table will be found in the parking area. Day-of registration is available until 30 minutes prior to your categories start time. There will be a $18 fee applied for onsite registration. Entry fee includes $5.99 USAC fee. No mail entries are accepted. One-day licenses are available on BikeReg.com at the time of registration. All riders must have an annual or one-day license. No refunds. Race runs rain or shine.
Event Map: Course starts are Pocopson Park and proceeds north on Locust Grove road, bares right at Hickory Hill road then turns RIGHT onto S. Wawaset road proceeding south, then turns RIGHT onto Corinne road proceeding west, then turns RIGHT onto Locust Grove road to complete the 2.5 mile loop. Race Format: Race format is a rolling closure with a lead pace car for each race, to ensure safety the yellow line rule will be in effect throughout the course, and there will be road marshals at each intersection. HOWEVER PLEASE NOTE THAT ROADS WILL BE OPEN TO TRAFFIC DURING THE RACE so be alert for cars at all times, especially if you are not with the main group of racers. The course is rolling 2.5 mile loop on quiet country roads. There is one moderate down hill and one up hill section with a moderate grade. There are no technical turns and there is good road surface throughout.
