Plein Air Painting

For hundreds of years, artists have loved to venture out of their studios to study light and life by painting on location. Plein air painting, or painting outdoors, offers artists a unique opportunity to capture the true colors, light, and atmosphere of a scene as it changes in real time. Working directly in nature encourages sharper observation skills and a deeper connection to the environment. It challenges artists to respond quickly to shifting light and weather, which often leads to more dynamic, expressive brushwork. Beyond technical growth, plein air painting can also be refreshing and restorative—combining creativity with the calming effects of spending time outdoors. Any medium welcome—oils, acrylics, watercolor, pastel.
