In January, February & March of 2025 the Bicycle Adventure Club has been Invited to host an Urban Room to explore Dudley’s rich history and inspiring landscapes through the joy of play and the power of the bicycle. Sign Up Via The TICKET LINK in EVENTBRITE!
We are interested in your experience and stories of playing in Dudley and the surrounding areas; in an effort to explore how playing can bring people closer to the unique local geography & history.
Whether you have lived in Dudley all your life, just as a child or an adult or come to Dudley to play sports, cycle the canals or We want to hear from you. You are invited to come and share:
Your memories of playing in Dudley
Where and how did you play?
How does play benefit the individual and the community?
How does the local landscape, history & heritage inspire our play?
How has play changed across generations?
What is the future of play in Dudley?
Maybe you cycle the local canals, build camps over the local wreck, explore the caverns under the Castle, or walk through the Netherton tunnel? Do you run an online gaming community from Dudley? Do you explore the area with a running club or similar? Or did you never go past the garden gate or the end of the road?
Whatever your experience, we want to hear your stories and memories of play in Dudley—past and present. Tell us about your streets and your adventures.
Together, we will collect these shared experiences with audio recordings and create a video and map that celebrates the connection between people, place, and the spirit of adventure.
Where & When?
All sessions are completely free to attend and will involve games, Wagon Wheels and Teddy Grays goodies! There is a small fund to reimburse bus fares or travel expenses*
We are particularly interested in your experiences if you are from a minority or marginalised community.
There are 3 Sessions that you can sign up for. You are welcome to any or all.

The sessions will be in a discussion format. We will be audio-recording the sessions and you will be given the opportunity to have your name included in the final project. Or you are welcome to just listen and add your memories to the map.
If you are cycling to the event you are welcome to show your bike and tell cycling stories. There is room for you to keep your bike with you.

Focus on our shared built environment - streets, cycle paths, neighbourhoods and public spaces
Be welcoming. Especially to those who are traditionally under-represented in decision making about the future of our towns and cities
Explore through creative activities - to prompt curiosity and fresh thinking
Be located in the places that are being discussed - the wider Dudley Borough
*Bus fares and travel expenses paid at 40 pence per mile with proof of receipt of universal Credit or Employment Support Allowance.
