This Derby Playjazz session is exclusively for any aspiring jazz singers out there! Whether you already sing a bit of jazz, or are a complete novice who is curious, this session will provide you with some ideas of how to get going with regards to understanding the basics of jazz vocals, and to feel more confident in joining in with sessions
Led by Yvonne Barrie, a professional jazz vocalist and educator, with huge experience of performing and leading workshops across Asia and the U.K., the session will start with some fun vocal warm ups to get everyone comfortable. We will then focus 2 or 3 jazz "standards", including an up-tempo swing song and a slower jazz ballad with a blues feel.
Please note this is a singers only workshop - all our instrumentalists can look forward to the next Playjazz session on May 5th.
