Playing the Long Game in Sports: NYC Climate Week Panel
About this Event
This summer, the Northeast was where the world came to play and where extreme heat, flash flooding and storms tested what it takes to keep people coming through the gates. Across stadiums, college athletics, casinos and entertainment venues, owners are already investing heavily in new facilities, renovations and aging infrastructure.
The question isn't whether more capital will be spent. It's how to make that investment pay off. Can required upgrades lower operating costs? Can incentives and public funding stretch capital budgets further? Can resilience investments protect revenue and the guest experience when weather disrupts operations? And for some of the region's most visible destinations, what is the cost of being seen as falling behind?
During Climate Week NYC, leaders from sports, entertainment, policy and sustainability will explore the business case for playing the long game using asset investments to reduce risk, improve performance and prepare for what's coming next.
