Plant Identification Class (Indoors)

Join a plant identification workshop led by experienced foraging instructors, offered as a 90-120 minute outdoor walk through local parks or an interactive indoor class depending on season. You’ll learn to identify commonly found wild plants in British Columbia, understand their uses and risks, and explore responsible harvesting and preparation techniques. The sessions combine practical field observation with reference materials to help build safe, informed plant-knowledge foragers.
Our in-class 2 hour workshop offers a comprehensive introduction to many of the common plants found throughout British Columbia. The workshop explores ethical and sustainable foraging practices, emphasizing responsible harvesting, ecological awareness, and respect for the land. In this course, we will help you identify and use different plants that can come in handy whether you're deep into the backcountry or taking a hike in a regional park.
In addition, the session includes in-depth profiles of 10+ commonly encountered plants, covering their traditional uses, identifying features, and practical applications.
Please note that this workshop focuses exclusively on plants. Fungi, including mushrooms, are not covered in this workshop. This workshop is not a required prerequisite for our Spring and Summer outdoor workshops, but it provides helpful background knowledge and preparation for those sessions. A certificate of completion will be provided to each participant.
