The Pittsburgh Roubaix Returns for 2025!Hosted by Unison Racing, this Gran Fonduro style ride aims to showcase the best cobbled roads that Pittsburgh has to offer. It’s as competitive or non-competitive as you’d like it to be and we’re offering both 20mi and 40mi courses.
Registration is a suggested $10 donation via cash or Venmo, accepted day-of. The registration fee goes toward supporting riders on the Unison Racing team.
Registration opens at 9:00am at Unison Bike Lab. The 40mi course departs at 10:00am on Sunday April 6. The 20mi course departs at 11:00am.
Prizes will be awarded to the first place women, non-binary*, and men in the 20mi and 40mi events.
* Strava regrettably lumps non-binary folks into a binary gender for reporting segment times, give us a heads up which one you had to choose when you register and we’ll sort that out!
This event takes place on streets open to traffic. Please exercise caution, sensibility, and common sense when riding. Riders are advised to follow all local traffic laws.
Scoring will be done via Strava segment times - the shortest overall time across all timed segments wins. Riders must complete all segments to be eligible for scoring. Riders with a private Strava account must self-report segment times at the end of the race. We’re not doing Dirty Dozen rules, running or walking your bike up the hill counts!
Legally classed e-bikes are permitted, but not eligible for scoring.
The majority of the course will be neutral paced with a few different pace groups to keep everyone together. Segment start and ends will be marked on the course. We’ll have pace group leaders & sweeps but riders are welcome to ride solo at whatever pace they please.
Both courses offer an aid station in Highland Park with light snacks and hydration, but please be prepared with adequate nutrition and hydration to ride.
Course Info
The course is designed to be a challenge! While Paris Roubaix may have miles of flat cobblestone, here in Pittsburgh our best cobbles are found on thigh-burning 20% grade hills. There’s no right bike for this race, but you won’t regret fat tires (28mm +) and easy gears. The 40mi course ventures into Braddock and Homewood to showcase some lesser-ridden hidden gems. The 20mi course sticks closer to the city and omits some of the worst hills, but still packs a punch!
