Cobra | Bloomfield | Ages 21+The Night Shift continues on April 5th as Manchester underground sensation AJ Christou takes over! Known for his signature blend of crisp tech house, New York swing, and distinctive percussion, AJ brings his unmistakable sound to Pittsburgh fresh off launching his new V House Sound label. Having made his mark on respected imprints like Cuttin' Headz, Crosstown Rebels, Hot Creations, and his recent track with A-Trak on Paradise, AJ has evolved beyond the club-focused formula to craft rich, musical productions featuring proper chords, irresistible vocals, and those hypnotic, groove-heavy basslines that set dance floors on fire.
From headlining at Hi Ibiza and Printworks London to curating sounds for his fashion brand Valour Clothing (repped by some high profile rappers and The Martinez Brothers), AJ represents the perfect fusion of music and style. Opening up the dance floor for the evening will be Alex Jouin making his return and SYS from Birmingham in the UK making his Longturn debut.
Consider this your standing invite. Clock into the weekend: Cobra Lounge, every Saturday.

AJ Christou established himself in the underground long ago but is now deep into the next phase. More skilled, more mature and more free to create the music he wants, he's making the best beats of his life on his own new label V House Sound. "If the drums ain't right, I'm scrapping it," he says of this new era, which builds on his signature low ends with fresh vocals and richer synths. It's a mix of crisp early noughties tech house and the irresistible swing of New York with his own percussive flair, distinctive congas and wigging basslines.
This new label is an extension of Valour Clothing, a brand AJ runs with his sister. It started with snapbacks and soon developed into a clothing brand known for its fresh designs and high-quality pieces. The brand is already entrenched in the music scene having been worn by high-profile rappers and international DJs like The Martinez Brothers. As music and fashion have always gone hand in hand, setting up a new label is a natural next step.
It will focus on AJ's own latest sounds, which are more developed and musical than ever before. Many years of studio dedication mean he has the skills to push further and bring all new influences: he now jams in the studio rather than arranging on a screen, and that's brought all-new creative freedom. The drums remain at the heart of what he does, but rather than being aimed all out at the club, releases will take an old-school approach with each tune coming as a vocal, dub, instrumental and maybe even a conga-pella to allow him to show different sides to his sound.
No longer is AJ caught in the familiar trap of chasing labels and main room plays, instead he's following the music, embellishing the grooves with proper chords and conveying a wide range of emotions through his machines. The first releases of this new chapter feature a mix of contemporary stars such as Amal, Aaron Pfeiffer, and legends like Chicago great Robert Owens and US scratch star A-TRAK, with a series of label parties to follow.
AJ will continue his long and fruitful relationships with Cuttin' Headz - home to his breakout What You Think EP in 2017 and kinetic cuts like his kinetic Star Struck EP - as well as Jesse Calosso's Boogeyman label. It's a platform that's allowed AJ to flourish and he's now a core part of that family who has headlined label events everywhere from Canada to Costa Rica, Hi Ibiza to Printworks in London, all while serving up essential tunes from the tight drum funk of 'Contagious' to the steamy and horn-led Latin sound of 'Gory Love'.
AJ remains a passionate collector of music. That love of sharing what he unearths is what still motivates him and means you never quite know what you're going to get. He likes to play with tempo, use volume as a weapon and mix up the vibes to keep the flow guessing whether playing a sun-kissed rooftop or a sweaty back room.
As the AJ Christou story continues to unfold, each new chapter gets ever more essential.

Longturn Music welcomes everybody and has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, unwelcome physical contact, or any brand of bigoted behavior. If anyone at a Longturn event is making you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, or if you witness anything of the sort, we encourage you to speak with the door staff or our team members. We’ll believe you, and we’ll help.
In the era when America's Rust Belt got its name, factory workers labored on a 12-hour day or night shift for two weeks straight. To switch shifts, one group would have to work 24-hours straight and cover the labor gap. This grueling shift became known as the Longturn.
Longturn music was founded to give people with day jobs a space to spend their second shift. No bottle service, no passwords, just a dance floor filled with good people and good music.
Come early, stay late, dance hard ⚒️
