Shearer TK-8 Magnet School is one of only two TK-8 schools in NVUSD, offering families another choice for middle years education and creating opportunities for students to develop leadership skills through cross-grade level mentoring and service.

Shearer's specialized magnet program focuses on Career Exploration. Students learn through unique integrated units based on the RIASEC model — a set of career categories designed to help students discover their interests and explore possibilities for their future. From the earliest grades, students are exposed to a wide range of careers across many fields through guest speakers, field trips, and hands-on learning experiences. As students progress through the grade levels, they build the skills needed to pursue career or college pathways, guided by their own practical experiences with the careers they explore.
