Our Prof Pick Series continues with the 1959 French crime thriller PICKPOCKET. Michel, played by non-professional actor Martin LaSalle, is a master thief who spends his days working the streets (and pockets) of Paris. His research explores the concept of surface in postwar French literature and film. Drawing on contemporary theory, his work examines how surfacesโclothing, skin, screensโmediate perception and subjectivity.
