Scotch Doubles (alternate shot)
Max combined skill level: 11
Double Elimination
🔹 MATCH FORMAT
Winners Side – 8 Ball
Race to 4
Call pocket
Take what you make after the break
Winner breaks
Can not win/lose on the break
Losers Side – 9 Ball
Race to 3
Call pocket
Player option on slop shots only
Push allowed only after the break
9-ball does not count on the break
🔹 GENERAL RULES (APA MODIFIED)
8-BALL RULES
Must call pocket on all shots
Pocket safeties ARE allowed but must be clearly called
8-ball on the break does NOT count
Early 8-ball, scratch or wrong pocket = LOSS
9-BALL RULES
Call pocket required
Slop = opponent’s option (player option)
Called early 9-ball = WIN
9-ball on the snap = DOES NOT count
🔹 GAMEPLAY RULES
Alternate shot throughout the match (no switching order mid-game)
One timeout per rack
No sideline coaching
ALL coaching/conversation must stop once opponents turn is over
🔹 FOULS / PLAY
Ball in hand applies per APA rules
After the break: ball in hand is behind the line only
