Piano FestivalSaturday, March 21, Beginning at 9am
SCF Performing Arts, 11A
Join SCF Music’s exciting piano festival designed to unite piano students, teachers, and music lovers for a dynamic celebration of learning, listening and performance. In partnership with the Sarasota Music Conservatory, PianoPalooza! features a thrilling competition for students in grades 6–12, alongside masterclasses tailored for pianists from beginners to advanced.
There is a registration fee for the competition. Masterclasses and recitals are free and open to the public.
Schedule
9am Student Scholarship Competition check-in begins (SCF Performing Arts bldg. 11A). To register for the competition or get more information about deadlines, fees, prizes, and requirements, visit the SMC website
10am Masterclass with Dr. Agnieszka Zick for students through 7th grade in the Studio for the Performing Arts (11A), room 112. See “About Masterclasses” below for instructions to register to play. Free and open to the public.
11 am Masterclass with Fernando Lopez for students in 8-12th grades in the Studio for the Performing Arts (11A), room 112. See “About Masterclasses” below for instructions to register to play. Free and open to the public.
12 pm Music Teacher’s Association Meeting The region MTA will meet to discuss business and future planning.
1:30 pm Student Winner’s Recital in the SCF Recital Hall. This recital is open to the public and free!
Teachers - if you have students who wish to play for the masterclasses, email Don Bryn by Monday, March 16th with:
•your name
•student name
•repertoire
•how long is the piece in minutes
The masterclass teachers will select pieces with which to work the morning of the masterclass. They will base their choices on a variety of repertoire levels, styles, and techniques. There is limited time so a limited number of pieces will be selected to work, but rest assured everyone in attendance will benefit from hearing a variety of works.
