Steve Alan Hyman, MD MM, is a retired Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology. He has played the piano since age five, though he took a hiatus for fifteen years before beginning studies with Marilyn Shields-Wiltsie in 1993. In 2004, he received a Master’s Degree in Piano Performance from Belmont University, where he studied with Robert Marler. He is a professional researcher on job satisfaction and burnout and physician musicians.
Al Christopher Viterbo Valmadrid, MD, began the violin at age four. He took lessons through high school and has studied independently. He developed a passion for solo performance after winning a concerto competition in Wisconsin. In 2012, he founded the Concerto Chamber Orchestra at the University of Southern California and received mentorship from famous violinist Midori.
