Pianist and a Partner (Perhaps) is back for their first event of 2026!
It's melodic and harmonic. It's percussive and smooth. It's old as hell, and sometimes, it's just furniture. We're talking about one of the most versatile instruments out there, the piano. Hosted by composer Sharon Udoh, a pianist of 40 years, the series "A Pianist and a Partner Perhaps" highlights 3 or 4 genre-spanning musicians for whom the piano has been a long-time love. Each pianist can choose to bring one additional musician in a duo offering, if they wish (thus, "a partner perhaps"), or, they can go at it solo. Piano players, lovers, and nerds everywhere, come join us as we celebrate this magnificent instrument!
At this fifth edition and first of 2026, we have host Sharon Udoh in duo with Dave Rempis, Postulate (duo of John Bitoy + Josh Harlow), Paige Alice Naylor, Julian Davis Reid in duo with Tramaine Parker, and Wes Dziedzic. Join us Wednesday 3/25 at 8pm!

Artist Bios
Postulate is a piece by friends and criminals John Bitoy and Josh Harlow for piano, synthesizer, and overhead projector. Based on the work of great conceptual visual artist Sol Lewitt and his line drawings, Postulate brings together Harlow and Bitoy's shared interests in the adventures, the unseen, and the unconventional.
Wes Dziedzic is a versatile pianist and vocalist with experience in both the jazz and classical worlds. Wes earned a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies degree from the University of North Texas. Since relocating back to Chicago in 2021, Wes has performed with highly regarded local jazz artists such as Katie Ernst and Matt Ulery at prestigious local venues like the Green Mill, and the Whistler. In addition, Wes is a collaborative pianist for Uniting Voices Chicago (formerly known as Chicago Children’s Choir).
Paige Alice Naylor is an experimental vocalist, sound artist, and technologist. Through sound-making and performance, she investigates the dissolution of time, the breakdown of language, and themes of death & rebirth by way of multichannel sound, electronically processed voice, handmade electronics, and repetitive, layered production. For Pianist and a Partner, Perhaps she will perform a few new studies for amplified and processed piano and voice through the 16-channel CLEAT system.
She has performed at Rewire Festival (NL), Variations Festival (FR), Public Records (NYC), The Lab (SF), amongst others. Her work has been featured in The Wire, NPR, Longform Editions, NewCity Art, Chicago Reader, and others.
