Photographers of Miami: Want to learn how to take amazing lifestyle, fashion, self-portrait, or still-life photographs in an indoor environment?

Join Lex Barberio (@lexbarberio) for an engaging studio photography class designed for students of mixed skill levels!

This hands-on workshop will empower you to become comfortable in a studio environment by exploring different lighting techniques using a single light source.

Key Highlights:

• Analyze Lighting: Learn to evaluate photographs to identify hard and soft light, enhancing your ability to understand their effects on mood and detail.

• Demonstrations: Watch step-by-step demonstrations of studio setup and how to achieve hard light, soft light, and silhouettes.

• Hands-On Practice: Work in small groups to recreate selected images, gaining valuable practical experience while collaborating with peers.

Schedule:

• Introduction and photo analysis

• Discussion of hard and soft light with visual examples

• Photo selection activity

• Studio setup and lighting demonstrations

• Hands-on shooting with personalized guidance

• Wrap-Up and reflection on experiences

Duration: ~ 3 hours

Capacity: Limited to 10 participants for ample shooting time

About the host:

Lex Barberio (@lexbarberio) is a Miami-based queer artist whose work blurs the line between dreams and reality. Through photography, collage, and experimental printing, Lex creates whimsical, immersive narratives that transform images into experiences. With roots in both fine art and advertising, they’ve crafted campaigns for brands like ESPN, Pepsi, and Adidas while exhibiting at the Museum of Contemporary Art Long Island, the High Line, and World Pride. Recognized by NBC as one of “12 Queer Artists Whose Work is Making Us Pay Attention,” Lex bridges conceptual storytelling and visual branding, making photography feel magical and alive beyond the frame.
