PHD's & Pints: Dreams, Drugs, and Sleep Disruptions.
About this Event
“Nights through dreams tell the myths forgotten by the day”- Carl Jung
Nearly a third of our lives is spent with our eyes closed and our bodies resting. While we are unconscious, our brains are alive with active maintenance: reconsolidating memories, clearing out metabolic waste, and regulating mood and emotion.
We need sleep to stay alive, but what happens when sleep is disrupted? What happens to sleep when we ingest cannabis, alcohol, melatonin, or sedatives? What does it mean to dream, and what can we learn from the unconscious mind?
Whether you're curious about why you wake up tired, fascinated by dreams, or simply love learning something new, this event is designed for everyone—no science degree required.
Enjoy an engaging talk, ask your burning questions during a live Q&A, and connect with fellow curious minds in a relaxed, social atmosphere.
Come for the drinks. Stay for the brain science.
Expect storytelling, humor, surprising insights, and plenty of “wait… that’s actually true” moments.
Agenda:
Doors Open: 6:30 PM
