Nearly 13,000 women proved up on Colorado homesteads in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. They displayed fortitude, independence, and perseverance to establish homes of their own. Through diaries, letters, period newspapers, and public records, their stories reveal strong women who helped create the Colorado we know today. Glenwood Springs Historical Society and Garfield County Libraries invite you to learn all about these women from author and historian Gail M. Beaton at 11:30 a.m on Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library. It’s free and open to all. For more information call the library at 970-945-5958. Thank you to the generous sponsor support of historical society educational programs provided by Bank of Colorado, Glenwood Hot Springs Resort, Hotel Colorado, and City of Glenwood Springs.
