About this Event

Join SDSPA and SDSU Extension for an in-person workshop on permaculture and food forests. We will start the day at the McCrory Gardens with a presentation from SDSU Horticulture Field Specialist Robin Buterbaugh on the principles of permaculture and how you might get started implementing permaculture design on your land. We will then move to the Brookings Food Forest to see permaculture in action.

Confused about what permaculture and food forests are? Permaculture practices can include organic gardening, agroforestry, food forests, water harvesting, natural building, and community development, among others. The purpose of permaculture is to create sustainable and regenerative systems that meet human needs while enhancing ecosystem health and biodiversity. You can check out Robin's guide to food forests here for a good introduction to the concept, but previous knowledge is not necessary.
