Perinatal Substance Use Disorder

Meet the Speaker:

Meagan Thompson is a dual certified Nurse-Midwife and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. She started her career as a CNM at the University of Iowa where she started a perinatal substance use disorder clinic in conjunction with Addiction Medicine. During this time, she received her Psych NP degree to help her delve deeper into the co-occuring disorders associated with perinatal substance use. Meagan moved home to Minnesota in 2022 where she worked in academics teaching pre-licensure nursing students and is an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota in their midwifery program. Meagan currently works for Neurocrine Biosciences as a Clinical Practice Liaison where she provides education to other APPs about Tardive Dyskinesia and it’s treatment.

Nicole Peluso is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Co-Founder of Integro Recovery Clinic in Edina, Minnesota. With over a decade of experience in both clinical and leadership roles, Nicole maintains a special interest in working with the perinatal population.

Nicole’s career includes serving as the System Addiction Lead at Allina Health’s Unity Campus, where she developed and implemented system-wide initiatives aimed at improving quality of addiction medicine care, as well as provider education in the management of addiction care. In addition to her clinical work, she is deeply committed to education and professional development, having worked closely with the University of Minnesota school of nursing in various capacities. A passionate advocate for integrated care, Nicole co-founded Integro Recovery Clinic to enhance access to specialized addiction and mental health services. She currently serves as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at Integro Recovery Clinic, where she provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, Medic*tion management, and consultative services for behavioral and substance use disorders. Her insights are informed by a strong academic background, including a Doctorate of Nursing Practice and a Master’s in Nursing from the University of Minnesota. Outside of her professional work, Nicole enjoys spending time with her family and in the outdoors.
