WHAT TO BRING TO AUDITIONS:
Please come prepared to list all dates and times that you will be unavailable for rehearsals from the day of your audition through May 24th. This includes but is not limited to known work schedules and obligations for any other productions you may be taking part in.
Tech and dress rehearsals will begin the weekend of May 16th/17th through May 20th. Performances will take place May 21st, 22nd, 23rd & 24th. Strike will be May 24th immediately following the show. Attendance is required for these dates.
Copies of the script are available for loan prior to auditions by contacting the director at the email address above.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT AUDITIONS:
Auditions will consist of cold reads from the script with some wrinkles mixed in.
During the production, a variety of British/Irish accents will be used. Accents are NOT required at auditions, but you are encouraged to attempt an accent if you feel comfortable doing so.
ABOUT THE REHEARSAL PROCESS:
To accommodate the busy schedules of our cast and crew, the production schedule for this show will be protracted and far less dense than most other productions. This may include somewhat longer rehearsal sessions that will see actors scheduled during separate blocks of time.
The first two months of the rehearsal process will be extremely light in density and will focus on foundational elements of the show. Primary focus points during this time will be line memorization, blocking, script study, character discussion, research, dialect, movement, and other items as needed.
Rehearsals will begin in early February with no more than 1 required rehearsal per actor per week. March will be similar with no more than 2 rehearsals per week. During this time, volunteer rehearsal sessions will be available to those who are interested.
Rehearsal frequency will increase by mid-April into May with volume reflecting progress made in the earlier months. This schedule will be communicated and adapted to fit the needs of the actors and production team.
We welcome those who wish to participate in other area productions. Please note that late April and May scheduling will be less adaptable than earlier months. If you have any questions or concerns about scheduling, please reach out to the director at the email address listed above.
ABOUT THE PLAY:
“Emma was having the time of her life. Now she’s in rehab. Her first step is to admit that she has a problem. But the problem isn’t with Emma, it’s with everything else. She needs to tell the truth. But she’s smart enough to know that there’s no such thing. When intoxication feels like the only way to survive the modern world, how can she ever sober up?”
-Dramatists Play Service
