The People of Hope Mobile Museum is coming to Portland for one weekend ONLY! This FREE, immersive museum experience takes place inside a 53‑foot semi‑tractor trailer and invites you to walk in someone else’s shoes, get the facts about poverty here in Maine, and see how you can bring hope to your neighborhood.Inside, visitors will experience:
• Video stories from Catholic Charities staff and volunteers of the client or family that impacted them the most, including local storyteller Kirsten Connelly of Catholic Charities Maine’s Education Services for Blind & Visually Impaired Children
• An interactive poverty simulator, making difficult choices and experiencing the realities of living on the margins
• An audio library featuring seminal works on poverty, social isolation, bridge‑building and community action
• A recording studio to share your own personal story of hope and service
During the Portland weekend, guests can also:
• Be uplifted by personal stories of hope from across the U.S.
• Share your own story of hope
• Shop books from best‑selling authors on poverty, social isolation, bridge‑building and community action
• Enjoy food, music, and fellowship
