PCC Biology STEM Saturday - Fall 2024

These workshops will be led by PCC faculty and student mentors dedicated to providing you with an enriching experience.

Are you fascinated by life on Earth? Do you want to learn more about the human body? Have you ever used a microscope? Do you want some questions answered about being a biology major in college? You can do all of these things and more with PCC’s Biology department! Interested students will spend the morning packed with interactive experiments and demonstrations led by our biology professors and Biology Club. Past activities and topics have included identifying microorganisms, squid dissections, entomology (learning about insects!), measuring muscle performance, and finding important animals in trail camera images.  

(Note: While we have updated some activities, there may be a repeat activity if you have attended a previous Biology STEM Saturday at PCC.)

This FREE EVENT is for high school students (one parent/guardian per student is welcome to come). There is no cost to attend but space is limited - register early! Register for as many Saturdays as you’d like.

The event begins at 9am and ends at noon.

An official registration packet will be sent a week prior to each STEM Saturday event via email.

Where do I drop-off my student or park for the event?

Parking for attendees is available for free in PCC Parking Lot 5, entered on Bonnie Ave.

For student drop-off, you can drive into Lot 5; enter on Bonnie Avenue. Follow the campus map attached to get to Science Village. The Biology STEM Saturday will take place in Science Village.

Will my student be chaperoned at all times during the event?

PCC faculty and student mentors will be present in the classroom area the whole time. PCC is not liable for students who decide to wander away from the event.

Will food be served as part of the event?

No food or drinks will be available at the event. If you’d like a snack, bring your own. There will be a break where you can enjoy any snacks or drinks that you bring.

What safety measures will be implemented?

All attendees will be provided with necessary personal protective equipment. All attendees need to sign the safety agreement specific for each activity.
